Perduras Ground Coffee 500 g

This coffee comes from Peru or Honduras depending on the season, and always features notes of caramel, nougat, and red apples.

For half the year, the coffee comes from the Incahuasi cooperative in Peru, and for the other half of the year, from the Comicovel cooperative in Honduras. We usually switch origins in late spring and again around early December, ensuring we always have in-season, fresh-tasting coffee in our bags. The seasons differ between producers because the cooperatives are located about 3,500 kilometers apart on opposite sides of the equator. Both cooperatives are Fairtrade and organic certified. The coffee consists mainly of the Caturra, Pacas, Typica, and Bourbon varieties, all of which are processed using the washed method.

Incahuasi, Peru
We have been purchasing coffee from Incahuasi since 2016. The cooperative is located in the Cusco region of southern Peru and was founded in 2005. The fact that the cooperative is situated in valleys rather than high up in the mountains says a lot about the altitude. The farms here are located between 1,700 and 2,300 meters above sea level, and it takes many hours by car to get there. Thanks to this inaccessibility, the farms have been spared from most coffee diseases that are spreading increasingly around the world.

Today, the cooperative has 480 members, all of whom work hard to gradually improve quality. Among other things, they have invested in drying beds and equipment to better process the coffee. For the past few years, they have also been producing micro-lots from individual producers within the cooperative, which are sold separately. This creates an incentive for everyone to produce better coffee and thus earn a better price.

Comicovel, Honduras
We began purchasing coffee from Comicovel in 2022. The cooperative was founded in 2016 as part of the Blue Harvest project, which focused on improving forest management and using water resources more efficiently. The project brought together a group of ambitious producers in the Opalaca region, who decided to form a cooperative.

The otherwise arid landscape has been transformed through agroforestry, which helps retain moisture in the soil and allows the coffee trees to thrive. The area, located about 30 kilometers west of Tegucigalpa in western Honduras, is home to farms situated at altitudes ranging from 1,400 to 1,800 meters above sea level.

Today, the cooperative has over 200 members who remain focused on sustainable forestry and water use, while working to improve the quality of their coffee. They are organic and FairTrade certified, produce and sort micro-lots, and have invested in raised drying tables to refine their process.  FAIRTRADE ORGANIC KRAV.
